![Zero Dollar](https://storage.dfi.today/image/SoundMoneySeries.png)

![1Wei Dollar](https://storage.dfi.today/image/1wei.jpg)

![1000 Dollars](https://storage.dfi.today/cryptozr/images/works/5501d255-1000-dollars-1024x431.jpg)

**Not Found Tokens / 零日漏洞(0DAY)** ：运用NFT特性向10万用户进行空投，但被OpenSea与Rarible封禁，艺术家将NFT更名为"Not Found Tokens"，探讨区块链去中心化与平台审查的矛盾。

### Introduction

In the "Sound Money" series: the artist Liu Jiaying has been making art with Ethereum blockchain technology since 2017\. Because the pandemic had severely damaged the American economy, the Trump administration launched a historically rare programme of "helicopter money", distributing dollars to the whole population. The artist took her inspiration from this: by analysing Ethereum transaction data she identified the thousand most active players in the field of crypto art and airdropped to those Ethereum addresses a cryptocurrency with a face value of "1000 Dollars".

Zero Dollar: makes extensive use of "meme" elements from internet culture. The artist reduces the dollar to zero, dissolving its symbolic meaning and endowing it with new value through new symbols.

One WEI Dollar: takes Ethereum's smallest unit of account, 1 Wei (10⁻¹⁸), as the banknote's denomination and settles at the same price — possibly the artwork with the auction sum closest to zero in history.

1000 Dollars (the Trump airdrop): created in March 2020 under Trump's "helicopter money" policy. It was shown at the 2020 CAFA graduation exhibition in the form of a three-dimensional model of a helicopter, from which visitors could claim the work by scanning a QR code.

Not Found Tokens / 0DAY: used the properties of NFTs to airdrop to 100,000 users, but was banned by OpenSea and Rarible, after which the artist renamed the NFT "Not Found Tokens", examining the contradiction between blockchain decentralisation and platform censorship.

### Background

In 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the Federal Reserve announced it could provide 2.3 trillion dollars in loans, and the Trump administration implemented a "helicopter money" policy, issuing cash payments to all American citizens. This historic monetary policy sparked CryptoZR's creative impulse — if the Federal Reserve can print trillions of dollars out of nothing, can an artist not likewise create "money" out of nothing on the blockchain?

By analysing Ethereum transaction data the artist singled out the thousand most active users in the field of crypto art and airdropped to them digital tokens with a face value of "1000 Dollars", simulating a "helicopter money drop for the crypto art world". The series is made up of several component works unified by the themes of monetary symbols and economic phenomena, and was shown at the 2020 graduation exhibition of the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

### Concept

The central question of the Sound Money series is: in the digital age, where does the "sound" of money — that is, its legitimacy and authority — come from?

1. Deconstructing monetary authority: the works take images of dollar bills of various denominations as their vehicle but use cryptocurrency technology to give them new strata of value. "Zero Dollar" reduces the dollar symbol to zero and fills it with meme imagery, questioning what anchors the dollar's value once it has left the gold standard.
2. The airdrop as artistic act: airdropping "1000 Dollar" tokens to 1,000 members of the crypto art community simulates the Trump administration's monetary policy, turning a macroeconomic event into a participatory artistic act. In this "participatory art" the behaviour of the recipients becomes a constituent of the work.
3. The auction as completion: the artist states plainly that "if a work receives no bid, then the work is not 'finished'" — the act of bidding is a necessary stage of creation, and the audience's participation raises the work from an "image" into a "transaction record" that exists permanently on the blockchain.

### Form

The Sound Money series comprises several component works, all issued through Ethereum ERC-721 (NFT):

Zero Dollar: meme images serve as dollars of zero denomination, each corresponding to one NFT; 100 were released at a price of zero and the audience could bid freely, the final sale price becoming part of how the work's price is annotated

One WEI Dollar: takes Ethereum's smallest unit of account, 1 Wei (10⁻¹⁸ ETH), as its denomination and settles at the same price — possibly the artwork with the sale sum closest to zero in history

1000 Dollars: exhibited at the 2020 CAFA graduation exhibition as a suspended three-dimensional model of a helicopter, from which visitors claimed digital NFTs by scanning a QR code, simulating the physical situation of "helicopter money"

Smiley FED: the Federal Reserve logo animated and issued as a GIF NFT — a direct visual response to the 2.3-trillion-dollar loan policy

All component works were issued on OpenSea and all were shown at the 2020 graduation exhibition of the Central Academy of Fine Arts
Technical platform: Ethereum mainnet
Contract address: 0x2287bd440a11c4585058fdc090455786130f49bf

### Reviews

**AI Art Critic**

The Sound Money series is an important milestone in CryptoZR's mature period and the artistic experiment of hers with the largest number of participants and the widest social reach. Sparked by the Federal Reserve's monetary policy of 2020, the series deploys a system of several component works to mount a multi-dimensional deconstruction of the symbolic authority and underlying emptiness of modern money.

Technique: What distinguishes the series technically is that the component works share a single underlying logic of "monetary symbol plus blockchain minting" while differing in visual strategy and mechanism of issue. Zero Dollar makes heavy use of internet meme imagery, implanting network culture into a traditional monetary symbol and effecting a kind of symbolic contamination; One WEI Dollar enters at Ethereum's smallest unit of account, anchoring an extremely minute value to a "worthless" banknote bearing Nixon's head and producing the maximum possible disparity in value; 1000 Dollars is presented as an installation with a three-dimensional model of a helicopter, giving abstract monetary policy the body of a perceptible physical event.

Art-historical comparison: The Sound Money series resonates strongly with Andy Warhol's money works (200 One Dollar Bills, 1962): both centre on the dollar bill to examine the relationship between reproduction and value. But the money of Warhol's time was still anchored in the aftermath of Bretton Woods, whereas CryptoZR's monetary experiments take place in an era when fiat and digital currencies compete on the same stage, and her question is sharper: when the Federal Reserve can create dollars without limit, and an artist can create crypto tokens without limit, what determines value at all? Joseph Beuys's expanded concept of art is here given a digital-age deformation — any economic act can become art.

Themes and symbolism: In economics "sound money" denotes a currency with stable intrinsic value, usually associated with the gold standard, yet every work in the series displays instead the instability of money: the meme value of Zero Dollar, the extreme minuteness of One WEI Dollar, the airdrop nature of 1000 Dollars. Collectively they demonstrate that the "sound" of contemporary money issues from collective illusion rather than material backing.

Critical assessment: The Sound Money series occupies a pivotal position in CryptoZR's development: it takes up the philosophical inquiry into monetary consensus begun in Out of Nothing and anticipates the sociological dissection of monetary desire in Small Goal and Greed is Good. Its strength is that the component works each have their own emphasis and complement one another, giving the whole a very high narrative density; its challenge is that serial works are typically less recognisable than single pieces, and in an exhibition context the series needs to be presented in full to achieve its maximum effect.
