This article examines CryptoZR's (Liu Jiaying's) work Red and Blue , analyzing its significance as a reflection of the geopolitical tension between China and the United States in the crypto world.
In September 2019, CryptoZR released 100 color blocks gradually transitioning from red to blue through Ethereum, each representing an NFT for bidding. The artist did not reveal the meaning of the blocks during the one-year bidding process.
The extreme red and blue blocks attracted the highest bids, while the intermediate gradient colors received less attention — prompting reflection on why humans tend to choose the most extreme positions within a given set of rules.
